Fever Pitch (2005)
Take me out to the movies,
Take me out to a show.
Buy me some Red Vines and Diet Coke,
Popcorn is worth it although you go broke!
Let me swoon, swoon, swoon for the hero
Who finds the girl of his dreams.
He'd go one, two, three bases, home
If it weren't PG!
Barrymore is our actress,
Plays an ambitious gal.
Meets a schoolteacher who's cute and smart,
Witty and giving, goes straight to her heart.
So she falls, falls, falls into romance,
Then she discovers the rest:
It's been five, ten, twenty years now
Since he got obsessed!
Not with comics or porn sites,
Not with Star Trek or god,
Romeo's really a Red Sox freak,
A compulsive, 10-carat, pure diamond geek!
But she tries, tries, tries to accept it,
Struggles with all of her might
For full nine, ten, eleven months,
Then they have a fight!
Yes, the guy has his issues.
Still, he totally rocks.
That Jimmy Fallon is quite a doll,
He acts, he's a wag, he should give me a call!
And since he's the heart of the movie,
What other way could she choose?
He's a true, blue, grand leading man
And he just can't lose.
Jimmy F. is a darling;
Drew, she sure is one too.
(On top of that there are lots of laughs:
Cleaning her dog's teeth is really a gas!)
And though all the rest are the standard,
Regular comedy string,
It's a fine, fresh, Fenway-fun game
And the play's the thing!
Is love or baseball the answer?
What's the meaning of life?
These are the questions of "Fever Pitch."
It should make the Farrelly brothers more rich
'Cause it's sweet and sexy and charming,
And if the chance should occur,
See it once, twice, three or four times
It's a real homer!
