Daredevil (2003)

Wow. "Daredevil" is bad. Truly one of the worst movies I have seen in many a long year. I'm not sure why I resisted the urge to walk out; maybe because I scoured the grout in my bathtub last weekend and didn't have much else to do.

Now, I'm a big fan of superheroes, Irishmen, and babes who kick ass (which, in this case, would be Ben Affleck, Colin Farrell, and Jennifer Garner, respectively), but this thing is poorly conceived, horribly written, riddled with shoddy special effects, and directed with all the finesse of a high school A/V geek who's watched waaaay too much MTV. The story of a blind lawyer who moonlights as a vigilante in a town where anybody, apparently, can leap over skyscrapers and perform other superhuman acts if only they're willing to wear embarrassing leather outfits, "Daredevil" is laughably trite and horrendous from beginning to end. I can't imagine anyone enjoying it, except maybe Farrell, who seems gleefully cognizant that he's wallowing in slop.
